The curious case f Ali & Sara.

Getting married on television is the new trend these days, innit?

Starting this trend was our very own drama-queen, Rakhi Sawant. Then came a nother drama queen, Rahul Mahajan (trust me, he's worst than a girl) who got married to a bikini model, Dimpy Ganguly & now Ali Merchant & the tiny Sara Khan.

Here's where the problem started. Now, Ali & Sara are said to be married 2yrs ago on 10.10.2008 in Bhopal. Then why did they get married again. For money that the channel offered to increase their TRP's or jus for fame?

The toilet paper (read : Bombay Times, as I fondly call it) even published their wedding picture on 11.10.2010. The picture showed them getting married. But Ali & Sara always denied it. The toilet paper further stated that both f 'em got a registered marriage & Sara moved in to Ali's flat in Kandivli. Subsequently, the couple moved to a rented apartment in Lokhandwala and have been living there since then. So why all the drama to get married again?

Before Ali entered the house Sara was very fond f Ashmit (read : sitting on his lap, giving massages, smelling each other's hair, kissing, hugging) & even declared that her relationship with Ali has ended. But the scenario was completely different when Ali entered the house. Sara stayed away from Ashmit & confessed her love for him again & in the process decided to get married. Big Boss even gave 'em the permission to get married & said that they would make the entire arrangements for the marriage. This decision f Big Boss clearly suggests that the entire thing is staged as said by one f the evicted inmates, Rahul Bhatt.

Now there are rumours that Ali & Sara were paid Rs 50Lakh for this telly-marriage & even Ashmit Patel knew both f 'em before they entered the house & the entire thing about Sara getting close to Ashmit, then Ali entering the house & getting married is scripted.

The marriage is called 'fake' by the Muslim community & has offended & provoked 'em to send legal notices to the channel. According to the Muslim law, both marriages become null & void if the same people get married twice. Islamic rules say that the woman separated from her husband should marry someone else, consummate the second marriage & then get divorced before re-marrying her first husband.

The television watchers are taken for a ride here. Nobody knows what the real story is. All they know is the "reel" story. The TRP f Color's has surely gone high.. this is what the channel cared about & this is what the channel got.

I have one thing to say to Ali & Sara : nething for money, eh guys?

India vs Australia. 1st Test. Mohali. 1st October '10 - 5th October '10.

An India vs Australia test match is always great to watch irrespective of it being played @home or away. The conditions @home are quite different from the Australian conditions. The green turf with extra extra bounce replaces a flat turning track @home.

Australia won the toss and Ricky decided to bat.Watson proved his decision to be right by scoring 126. Ponting(71) was run-out by a brilliant one-hand-pick-up-and-throw by Raina. Tim Paine scored a steady 92 along with the right-arm tattooed left-arm fast Mitchell Johnson (37). Australia scored 428 in their 1st innings with a run rate f 2.82. I guess, their slowest ever. Zaheer did the major damage with 5 wickets.

India started their 1st innings rather well with the Delhi openers giving India a decent start. Dravid played a class innings with 77. It was Tendulkar's dismissal on 98 (lbw North) that got the nation disappointed. I was waiting since mornin' to witness Tendulkar's century. Damn, shit happens! Raina proved the selectors decision to pick him instead f Yuvraj by scoring 86 before getting out to a loose shot. Laxman came out @ no-10 to bat as he was nursing a back spasm with he had developed in the 3rd test against SriLanka. Johnson partied on this Indian innings with 5 wickets to his name. India collapsed on 405 giving a 23run lead to Australia.

Australia started their 2nd innings with a good partnership between Watson & Katich but after that the wickets began to tumble and Australia folded on 192. Zaheer & Ishant with 3wickets each, Bhajji & Ojha claiming 2 each.

India needed 216 runs to win.

India begin their chase. Gambhir adjudged lbw to a Hilfenhaus delivery. Wrong decision by the umpire but the Aussies rejoice. Dravid fell for 13 fending off a wide delivery f Bollinger. Sehwag(17) got out to a rising delivery f Hilfenhaus & so did Raina(0). India close 4th day's play with 54/4 with Zaheer as the night-watchman & God @the other end.

5th day:
Tendulkar & Khan start out +ly with Tendulkar playing his strokes & Khan rotating the strike. Zaheer fell to a straighter one by Hauritz on 10. Then walks out VVS Laxman. Little did we noeLaxman would again play a innings f his life lyk the 281. Really, whenever I talk about Laxman I never fail to mention his 281. Tendlukar got out on 38 playing a one-day shot. India's hopes did look bleak for a certain period. VVS continued with his stroke-play. One couldn't imagine that he was nursing a sore back 24hrs ago. Dhoni looked solid before getting run-out due to a mis-understanding with Raina who was running for Laxman. Harbhajan replaced him only to get caught by Paine f Bollinger 2 balls later.

Now, 90 to get with Laxman & long-haired lanky, Ishant at the other end. I had little faith in Lanky after watchin him bat in SriLanka. Laxman showed immense faith in Ishant's batting abilities by getting him on strike for the 2nd ball over f the over instead f the last. There's something about showing faith in your players, something that makes 'that' player click. Ponting showed faith in Hauritz by tossing the ball to him in the morning & he clicked. Ishant & Laxamn played carefully with scoring & keeping the scoreboard ticking.

India 204/8. Drinks. 204/9, Ishant adjuged lbw. Wrong decision again.

12 to win. 1 wicket in hand. Australia were 1 ball away from winning. India were 12runs short. Laxman lost faith in his Ojha & kept most f the strike taking 2's whenever possible. A call for a single by Laxman refused by Ojha left Laxman furious. I must admit, I never saw Laxman lyk "this".

Next over. Right-arm tattooed & left-arm fast Johnson to Ojha. Ojha struck in the pads. All go up. Billy denies. It was plump. Wrong decision by Billy. Long Live Billy, I blessed.

India need 2 runs to win. Right-arm tattooed & left-arm fast Johnson to left-ear pierced Ojha. Johnson straying on Ojha's pads a lil too much.. ball kisses Ojha's pads & gets past the keeper towards the boundary. Watson fields & throws it back to Paine. But, it's all too late, son. India have won!!

Ponting has to wait more to win a test match against India in India as captain. I lyk the sound f this.

movie review : Aisha.

Cast : Abhay deol, Sonam Kapor, Amrita Puri, Cyrus Sahukar.

Director : Rajshir Ojha.

Sonam "dumb" Kapoor plays Aisha a south-Delhi's rich dad's extremely spoilt child. Sonam shops & shops & shops, wears designer short clothes, designer shoes, dances, talks non-sense, goes to polo matches, does some gardening when she's home, feeds dogs at Animal right centre(ARC), bakes cakes, drives a Volkswagen, goes on camping trips, plays a match-maker, thinks about love the entire time. That's it. That's the whole story of the movie . Oh, yes, I forgot, she also smiles foolishly throughout the film.

There was one more character in the film.. I don't quite remember him.. er.. er.. some lanky fellow, ah, yes.. Abhay Deol. What a waste of talent, son. I was quite a fan f your's after Dev D.

P.S. DO NOT WATCH.

movie review : Salt.

Cast : Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber

Director : Phillip Noyce

If you read the script of this film before you watch the movie you'll imagine Tom cruise & no one else doing it. Unfortunately, even Tom imagined himself doing this film & refused it later saying it was "Mission Impossible" kinda film. Bad decision, Tom.

Once Tom's refused it try to imagine someone else for the script.. umm.. may be a woman.. um.. umm.. Jo.. Jolie.. Angelina Jolie, ah yes. That's the only name that comes to mind. And rightly so.

Jolie plays, Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who's accused f being a Russian spy.

The plot f the film is nuthin great. In fact it's worthy f a ridicule. The only thing that works for Salt is that the lead is a woman and a sexy one at that. The action scenes are too good. Your heart will skip a beat when you see Jolie jumping off the roof-tops f vehicles on a busy free-way. Okay, these kinda action sequences you've seen before but not by a woman, you see. Jolie brings mysteriousness into her character. The film is fast-paced which makes you overlook the holes in the script.

It turns out that Cruise must think twice before rejecting (read : Salt) or accepting (read: Knight and Day) a film. Tym to get a new advisor, eh son?

P.S. worth a watch for Jolie, for action or jus find a reason and go..

movie review : The Expendables.

Cast : Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet li, Mickey Rourke

Direction : Sylvester Stallone.

When thousands f bullets are fired, why the bloody hell they don't hit the heroes?

Sly could've made the movie in a much better way yet he stuck to the pointless fights scenes, explosions, car chases & blowing up a entire South-American place just to a take a dictator down because he misbehaved with a girl who was 50yrs younger than him. It looked like a 80's action film.

Jason Statham was good as he always is. Mickey Rourke was terrible. Jet li should have been used more.

The action sequences shown in the film were not original. The story was baseless.

Sly, i'hv to ask you one thing -- man, doesn't it hurt when u get tattooed?

P.S. go if you're a action fan.

Movie review: The Wrestler.

Cast : Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood.

Director: Darren Aronofsky

To tell you the truth, I never liked watching wrestling because I always knew it was fake & it was meant to entertain void minds. I watched this movie on a recommendation & I'm glad I did.

The wrestler is a story of a professional wrestler, a husband, a father & a loner.

Mickey(randy) once a famous pro-wrestler is, now, after 20yrs a loner who has trouble paying his rent & with that he has health concerns too. Randy takes steroids and it results in a heart-attack after a match & the doc advises him not to take that stuff anymore & also quit his wrestling career as he feels his heart wont cope up with him.

Randy has a crush on a most-wanted stripper of a club that he frequently visits named Cassidy & he looks up to her for affection and care. Randy also has a daughter on whom he had
walked out several years ago due to his career. Now, that Randy is lonely he visits his daughter & tells her that he had an heart-attack but she is furious with him & does not care for him now for he walked outta her life when she needed him the most. But later on, she succumbs & loves her father back.
The father-daughter relationship shown in the film is beautiful.

There a couple of very good scenes in the film lyk the wrestling match in which staple-guns were used is breath-taking & the scene in the final parts of the movie where Randy walks out furiously off the store where he works & calls his manager & tells him that he would lyk to take up wrestling again.

P.S. Worth a watch. Never really expected a big guy to act so well. Rated R.

movie review : Knight and Day.

Cast: Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz

Director: James Mangold

Tom cruise & Cameron Diaz -- what more could a director ask for. Both of 'em are still charming as were in Vanilla Sky.

Cruise plays a CIA agent, Roy Miller & Diaz play a regular girl, June who mixes herself in Cruise's affairs. Unnecessarily. The film lacks chemistry & this has made it very difficult to understand as to why Diaz accompanies Cruise to all the dangerous locations. Speaking f the locations , they're beautiful.

Although the films lacks chemistry between it's lead actors it makes up with the action sequences. My personal favorite is the one in which Cruise jumps from one car top to another on the freeway. Cruise still manages to keep the audiences glued to their seats when it comes to action sequence. However, he should seriously rethink before opting for Romantic-thriller kinda films. Not his cup-f-tea, I feel.

Cruise disappoints. Diaz disappoints. The film disappoints.

P.S. It's very important not to waste a talent lyk Tom Cruise's.

movie review : Milenge Milenge

Cast : Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Delnaaz Paul, Satish Shah, Satish Kaushik, Aarti Chhabaria.

Director : Satish Kaushik

Shahid to Kareena :

" Priya, mujhe sirf 5 min do. Priya, mein janta hun ki maine tumhe dhuk diya hai. Mujhetumhari dairy padne ka koi haq nahi tha. Par us raat jab guards se bachne k liye meintumhare kamremein aaya tab meri nazar tum par paddi aur mein tumhe dhekta hi rehgaya. Isilye maine wahisab kiya jiss se tumhe mein hi woh ladka hun jiski tumhe talashthi. But believe me Priya, mainesab isliye nahi kiya kyuki mein tumhara mazak udanachahta tha par isiliye kiya kyuki.. I love you, Priya. Please give me one chance, Priya."

Karrena to Shahid : "ho gaye 5 min?"

(Kareena walks out)

Shahid to Kareena : "Priya, mujhe poora yakeen hai ki taqdeer humko milana chahti hai."

Kareena : "Taxiiiiiii.. "

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.. That is what happened in their real lyf as well, isn't it?

At the start f the movie :

(a song plays in the background) -- shez full f lyf, full f style.. uska masum sa chehra..

Kareena helps 2 girls to cross the road & shez sees a man smoking, goes upto him, removes the cigarette from his mouth & throws it away. Dude, I would have slapped her.

Kareena wants to find her Mr. Right. She thinks about this the whole day. Duh, what a loser. A tarot card reader (Kiron Kher) tells her that she will find her man on a beach in a foreign land at 7: am & he will be wearing clothes consisting f 7 different colors (man, I almost fell down laufin here) & next scene is Shahid getting up from his bed late in the morning.

Following the tarot card reader's prediction Kareena gets smitten by Shahid but later finds that he's a liar, a smoker & drinker too. So, leaves him & shifts base to Mumbai from Dehli. Shahid goes to US for 3 years comes back & still can't forget Kareena & vice versa. Typical Bollywood film, you see.

Karrena is getting married to some Jatin unwillingly may be because she feels her clock is ticking or so & Shahid is getting married to Sophia(Aarti Chhabaria) may be because he has nothing else to do.

While parting in the first scene mentioned, Kareena makes Shahid write his name & no on a 50rupee note & she writes her name & no on a book she buys using that 50rupee note & then sells it at a old book store. She says that if if they are really supposed to be together, she will get back that 50 rupee note & Shahid will find that book, somehow. How Dumb!

So, when both are supposed to get married in a day or two, Kareena finds that 50rupee note & Shahid that book. Voila!

Kareena barges into Shahid's marriage ceremony & they get married there and then. Wow!
Cudn't get more dumber than this, I must say.

This movie was supposed to release on 23rd Dec, 2005 but due to some financial problems, Kareena-Shahid break-up, Tsunami in the Indian Ocean they stalled the release of the film. Man, you should have never made the film. That would have saved you a lot f money & embarrassment as well.

The acting is worst throughout the film. There's absolutely no chemistry between Shahid & kareena. Delnaz Paul is as stupid as she is fat.

P.S. agar tumhe tym nahi 'mila' ye movie dhekne toh achha hoga..

movie review : I hate Love Stories.

Cast : Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor

Director : Punit Malhotra

Sonam is a die-hard movie buff, a total filmy. Imran hates love stories. Sonam hates Imran. Imran starts liking Sonam. Sonam starts liking Imran. Now, they are a couple. Like we din't noe that this would happen. Duh!

Sonam Kapoor can't act. Period. Sonam looks so dumb throughout the film. She does this "non-sense" in front f the camera which she considers acting jus lyk her father does who is in a different world since Slumdog Millionaire. Her granny thinks she deserves an oscar for this film. Well, granny, why don't you just put a lid on it.

Imran Khan, like this one, always manages to choose dumb roles.

The fat guy from the Sprite add was good, though.

P.S. If you lyk this film then it's tym to see a doc.

Friday, July 9, 2010

movie review : The Beach.

Cast : Leonardo DiCaprio, Virginie Ledoyen, Guillaume Canet, Robert Carlyle.

Director : Danny Boyle

"Couple f things you've to remember.

1 : You've to stay calm &

2 : No fear..

.. because the sharks.. you see, the sharks can sense that fear with the ease that they can smell blood. So, this is unusual. It's jaw wide open, row upon row f these razor sharp teeth, it's tail fin sweeping back n forth lyk it's surged in for the kill. I swear to God
my whole lyf flashed before my eyes, really. I had nothing to offer other than pure reflex
& mankind's basic pride for survival. It's lyk telling the shark 'no, I will not die today'.
The shark knew it, I knew it".

These kinda lines & the intensity with which DiCaprio delivers gives you goosebumps, man.

DiCaprio travels to Thailand on a vacation & the first thing he hear is "Like every
tourist, you want it all . . . to be safe, just like America". So, he drinks snake blood
just to show that he's ready for the new things that Thailand has to offer.
The guy living next door shows a map f an island to him which is not listed in normal
maps. DiCaprio decides to take a hike with the 2french folks (Virginie Ledoyen and
Guilluame Canet). Through a shark-infested waters & marijuana farms they reach the
hidden island also called 'The Paradise'.

DiCaprio does show his talents with great acting, dialogue-delivery & charming the young
french women. The part where he treats himself as a video game player & acts like one
is amazing.

P.S. great camera angles, good story, great locations.. worth a watch. A hint f drugs,
adult language, nudity and sex.

Monday, July 5, 2010

movie review : Ravaan.

Cast : Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ravi Kissen, Govinda.

Director : Mani Ratnam.

To b very honest I lyk when Ratnam's films start with 'Madras Talkies'. It's probably
because I lyk it being called Madras more than Chennai. Most f the previous names f
states I did lyk.. eg: Bombay was better than Mumbai, Calcutta sounded better than Kolkata. Oh, I strayed.. jus lyk I did when I was watching this movie. It's that bore a film thatyou might be forced to check out what the girl seated next to you is texting.

Abhishek plays Beera who kidnaps the local cop's wife Ragini (Aishwarya) avenging a crime committed against his family. Dev (played by Tamil star Vikram) searches the entire jungle to find his wife & also to get hold f Beera. Beera on the other hand develops
feelings for Ragini & decides not to kill her. Love, u see.

Ratnam adopted a lot f idea's from Ramayana like Dev asking Ragini to undergo a ploygraph test to prove her purity & the surpanakha character.

Ravi Kissen was brilliant in the film. Govinda was.. well, he was Govinda. Aishwarya dint
have too much f a role except stare at the camera, scream & yet look gorgeous.

Not the Mani Ratnam film I had expected.

P.S. Take some aspirin with you.

The IPL-3 final -- Post Mortem.

MumbaiIndians v/s Chennai Super Kings

Location: D.Y.Patil, Navi Mumbai.

I
t was the last match of the maddening IPL -3 season. The MI blondie's were goin to dance & blow
kisses at the camera for one last tym. Sivamani was goin to irritate for one last tym. It was the last of many things & beginnings of some new careers, TV soaps, movies & a lyf apart IPL.

It was a perfect day for cricket. Being a Sunday the final was sure to attract some serious
cricket fans, some bored public, some Tendulkar(read: me) & Dhoni fans, some people who juswanted to watch a cricket match live & some stayin close to D.Y.Patil.

Although the first ball was to be bowled at 20:30, spectators began to thong the stadium

from 17: onwards or even before. The show started with some interviews of cricketing experts all dressedin classic black. Then there was performance of Bipasha Basu a.k.a kaali-billi. Bips, I loveyou. I love your hot-bod more but enough of that xposure, it's tym to wear some clothes, darling. Jus for a change. A.R.Rahman sung a few notes that were apparently live & Shahid danced later. If you ask me.. all these weren't required.

I was lookin out if my Zinta babe had turned up.
Sadly, she din't. She was required.

It was 19:30 then. I got a call from a friend. He wanted me to join him at a sports bar to

watch the final there. This completely disrupted my plans f wearing shorts, sittin with a
bowl f chips & watching the match at home.

We arrived at the bar. That friend f mine invited two other friends f his who were unknown
to me. Since Im a non-drinker(yes, Im proud to be a non-drinker & yes, Im a self-confessed health-freak), there i was sitting with an orange juice surrounded by delightfully high crowd. By ordering an orange juice I managed to invite a few surprised stares towards me.I dint bother as Im used to this, now.

The toss happened. Tendulkar lost the toss. I got a bad feeling right there & i was not

alone. Dhoni decided to bat first. He thinks lyk a fox, Im tellin you.

It was good start. Vijay & the mighty Hayden fallin cheaply. Hayden failed in this year's IPL.
Later, Raina dropped. Ball fell in between Fernando & Nayar both f whom thought the other would take the catch. Fernando was the culprit.I got a feelin Raina would make this count. I was wrong.Raina gave a nother chance. This tym, Zaheer dropped. Butter fingers, eh, i thought.I think it was a keeper's catch. Ambati Raydu, if only he were a
lil more xperienced he would have known that it was his catch. It's usually easy for
keepers to take a catch running backwards. Ultimately, I seemed lyk I wasn't wrong.
Raina made MI pay for their sloppy efforts on the field. C'mon now, you can't
drop a man-in-form catch twice in a same match.

I dint not quite understand Tendulkar's bowling changes. I mean, giving Bhajji the 1st over
was understood. But why slinga-Malinga was given the next one. When slinga-Malinga is so, so good at the death & Zaheer's so good with the new ball why Slinga instead f Zaheer. Zaheerwas given the 3rd over. Bhajji was taken outta attack followed by Malinga bowlin the 4th.I dint understand this. Tendulkar wasn't allowing his bowlers to settle. Even if its a 20over match, bowlers need to settle.

Dhoni opted to start the bowling with R.Ashwin, understandably, as the guy is in tremendous
form & has the guts to bowl at the start. Chubby-Bowlinger bowled the 2nd. Tendulkar played xtra cautiously.Shikar Dhawan forward defencing Ashwin. I mean, the guy's good but man, its a T20. 3 overs for 7runs. Shikar Dhawan played a careless shot thus giving chubby his 1st wicket. Big-eyed Murli bowled well. Jakarti was courageous. Sending in Bhajji to accelerate the innings was a good move. Bhajji failed. Raydu replaced him.Tendulkar had just hit a six in the over in which he got out why was there a need for him to play the half-hearted shot. Another bad decision. Following this came a nother one when he sent Duminy before Pollard. Duminy is a good batsman but he wasn't required at that stage of the match. What was required was a hard-hittin batsman who cared a damn for the bowler's reputation.

Sometyms you don't need Stewards, you need alsatians. This was jus that moment. Tendulkar failed to read this opportunity & consequently MI lost the finals & won a huge disapointed crowd.

Mistakes was all MI committed during the final but it was the brilliant mind f MS Dhoni

that capitalised on those opportunities. Bowling changes, field placements were jus great.

Dhoni is a good skipper.

And in the end.. it was all yellow.

Mistakes:

1. Malinga not bowling in the death overs.

2. Zaheer not given the new ball.

3. Raina dropped twice.

4. Slow-start.

5. Failin to convert 1's to 2's by Tendulkar & Nayar.

6. Tendulkar playing a careless shot

7. Pickin Nayar instead of Bravo.

8. Duminy sent instead f Pollard.

9. Ambati Rayudu wanting the strike when he has someone lyk Pollard at the other end.

10. Brilliant captaincy by Dhoni.

.. all this forces me to think -- was the match fixed?

movie review : Death at a funeral.

Cast: Matthew MacFadyen, Peter Dinklage, Ewen Bremner, Rupert Graves

Direction: Frank Oz

The actors were British. I could tell from the accent & by their stiff-upper lips which never moved no matter what. The movie was British. I could tell from the type.

Daniel played by Matthew MacFadyen, arranges his Father's funeral at which he gets a wrong casket delivered at first. His
Brother, Robert played by Rupert Graves, who is a well known novelist in New-york travels 1st class to get to the funeralbut claims poverty when Daniel asks him to pay half the amount for the funeral. Daniel's wife, KeeleyHawes, stalks him throughout the film asking him whether he booked 'em a new flat after Daniel had once promised her that he would take her out of his mother's house. The reverend adds to Daniel's trouble when he asks him to hurry up with the details coz he has to be
some place else by 3pm. The most striking guest is the dwarf played by Peter Dinklage, who shows up uninvited.

The movie's best twist comes when Peter reveals that he was his deceased father's gay-lover & has photos of 'em in
compromising positions as evidence which he threatens to show it to everyone at the funeral if he's not payed 15,000 pounds. In the chaos of tying up Peter & not giving him the money and keeping him a secret from other people, Peter accidentally bangshis head against a corner f a glass table and dies. The way they put him off is also fun.

In the meantime, Simon(Mr. Tudyk), Martha's(Daisy Donovan), going-to-be husband is drugged when Martha gives him Valium which actually
is a illegal experimental hallucinogen found at her Troy's(Kris Marshall) place who is freelance chemist. This drug makes Simon laugh, go naked & threaten to jump off the roof at the funeral. This totally ruins Simon's plan f creating a good reputation in front f Martha's uptight father. Simon is brilliant in the film.

During this Troy looses the bottle f Valium which he carried & searches it

everywhere which creates quite a nuisance. Since all British comedies must have at least one cast member of Love Actually in the film (I think that’s an unofficial rule), Kris Marshall plays Martha’s drug-dealing grad student brother Troy.

Another character Justin who is madly in love with Martha & follows her everywhere even when she is dealing with drugged
Simon. Daniel's best friend Howard(Andy Nyman), has a skin condition which he's quite concerned about and goes around at the funeral asking if anyone could provide a solution to his problem. Uncle Alfe(Peter Vaughan), is a bad word giving old-head who makes Howard's life miserable.

It was British comedy at it's best. The sometimes predictable script could, however, be tighter.

P.S.
Still, in "Death at a Funeral," Oz has created a fun and well-made film, with a pleasant and
oh-so-British vibe, transforming what could be the grimmest of situations into a jolly good time.

movie review : How to lose a guy in 10 days.

Cast : Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey

Direction : Donald Petrie

T
his is based on the book by Michelle Alexander and Jeannie Long.

Ms. Hudson plays Andie Anderson, who writes how-to columns for a famous women's magazine called Composure. A journalism graduate, Andie yearns to write about more substantial topics than shoes, orgasms and yoga. She refers to this as -- i want to write anything I want. But her editor is looking out for topics in her magazine that would increase its sales than Ms. Hudson's interests.

The recent break-up of her co-worker gives Andie the idea to write a topic for the magazine -- how to lose a guy in 10 days.
For that she decides to get hold of a man, make him fall in love with her and then through a combination of clinginess and psychotic behavior, drive him away. All this within 10 days.

Ben Barry (Mr. McConaughey) works in an advertising firm which is going after a big jewelry account. Ben,to get away from a pair of scheming women, makes a bet that he can make any woman (read: Andie) fall in love with him in those same ten days.

Oh the irony, how delicious. Wait, it gets better: this film was based on a book.

In truth, there are about twenty minutes in the middle of this shipwreck that work well. The disruption of a boys-only
poker night, the creation of a virtual "family album," and the redoing of Benjamin's apartment in estrogen are strokes of mad brilliance. The visit to that family, by the way, is one of the more unlikely turning points in the entire antagonistic love affair.

Andie's other ways to repulse Ben include herself turnin into a weepy monster, sending him off to
buy her a soda in the final seconds of a close Knicks game, sniffling over the rack of lamb Ben had prepared for their second date and giving his penis an embarrassing nickname.

You can't nickname our member "Princess Sophia". Ben, Im with ya.

The film advertises ''Sleepless in Seattle'' whose executive producer, Lynda Obst, also produced this movie.

This movie tries to tell the tale f a man and a woman's behaviour. But Sex and the city had, already, set high standards
which this movie could not meet.

If you suspect you've already seen this movie a hundred times, you probably have.

P.S. discreet sexual references and scenes and some profanity.

movie review : Tera kya hoga Johnny.

Cast : Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kay Kay Menon, Shahna Goswami, Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap, Sikandar Agarwal, Soha Ali Khan, Saurabh Shukla, Karan Nath.

Direction : Sudhir Mishra

If you've seen Johnny Gaddar, Oye Lucky oye!, 99 you'll probably realise that this film belongs to the same genre. I wonder if this is the new formula for commercial success.. making these kinda films & attracting audiences. No complaints, we love these kinda films.

Johnny (played by Sikandar Agarwal), the title character is a kid who makes his living in Mumbai serving tea during the night. His job brings him closer
to a few of his customers – a drug addict, Vishal (Karan Nath), a model/ actor, Preeti (Soha Ali Khan) and Parvez (Neil Nitin Mukesh). Johnny hopes that someday one of his customers would help him find a better life and send him to work in Dubai. It's with this intention that he maintains a good relationship with all his customers. There's narration from Johnny’s perspective. This is probably the only part that made the writing look a tad sloppy.
Johnny’s customers include Begum(Saurabh Shukla), the trans-gender ‘madam’ operating a brothel and Chiple (Kay Kay Menon), a corrupt police officer. Parvez carries on an extramarital relationship with Chiple’s wife Divya (Shahana Goswami). (Why does Neil always get to charm other men's wives, remember Johhny Gaddar?) Parvez, with Johnny’s help steals the money from Chiple's apartment where he stores his corrupt earnings from bribes. Preeti and Vishal on the other hand share a live-in relationship. A TV Network owner (Sudhir himself) exploits Preeti’s vulnerability. But what I can't really understand is – Why her? Vishal’s client played by Aditya Bhattacharya whose business dealings are to collect money that he lends to others? But again, why de lend 'em the money on the first place. Anurag Kashyap makes a cameo as Sudhir’s henchman.

There are a couple f scene related to sex shown in the film. The drug dealer, besides giving blow jobs to Begum. Then there is Johnny’s friend, another
struggling kid, whose only characterization in the movie is that a middle-aged man sexually abuses him. While we are with the subject of sexual abuse, Johnny himself comes close to getting raped by a police officer.

This film is in no comparison with Sudhir's Hazarron Khwahishen Aisi but you will walk away pleased.

movie review : Raat gayi, baat gayi.

Cast: Rajat Kapoor, Dalip Tahil, Vinay Pathak, Anu Menon, Navneet Nishan, Neha Dhupia, Iravati Harshe

Director: Saurabh Shukla

This movie had all the right actors and a good script but somehow dint click.

I'll tell u about the scene where i almost clapped --With her husband sitting beside, the wife quickly turns up to a waiter at a coffee shop, holds his
hand, smiles and bluntly passes him on her phone number. She looks at the husband then, and asks, “Now do you know how it feels to be hurt?”

There’s a touch of universal truth in that moment. It sort of explains why women should feel more betrayed when cheated on. They can quite often get
whoever they want. Whether married, single, old or ugly, the fairer sex is rarely short of attention. They’re still seldom bowled over by flattery by male hunters."Some" Men slip as easily as one could imagine.

I dint quite connect with the scene wherein at the coffee shop itself when Anu gets up and goes Vinay sings "jaane kyu log pyaar karte hai" and
something happens to her, she comes and hugs him. I wonder, what emotion arose within her.

That gentleman (Vinay Pathak) at the cafe, an unexplained moron in his manners, is kicked out of his house, caught chatting up a soft-porn stranger,
Jennifer on the Internet. His best friend Kapoor (Rajat Kapoor) has a bigger issue to deal with. A married Kapoor has absolutely no memory of an eventful night(previous night) beyond a point. He can’t recall whether he did (or did not) bed this unknown, mysterious girl (Neha Dhupia), who’d apparently walked in blank-faced, in a backless dress, and who’d found Mr Kapoor’s first name Rahul, “interesting”. Drifting away a lil, Neha, you
looked hot as hell, sister! Iravati Harshe still looks gorgeous. Navneet Nishan plays her role superbly.

The movie revolves around Rajat calling around, moving back & forth on the memory of the party, going from one apartment to another with a backdrop
of a Pakistani soft-music.

The party looks fake. The film makers couldn't show the Question in the form of a point that has troubled women all over for centuries together --
Why are all men the same?, efficiently.

This flick neither touches nor tickles enough.

P.S. get us Hangover, any day.

movie review : Baabarr.

Cast : Soham Shah, Mithun Chakraborty, Om Puri, Sushant Singh,Tinu Anand, Urvashi Sharma, Shakti Kapoor.

Direction: Ashu Tirkha

A lot f unnecessary violence -- is what y'all will end up thinkin once the movie ends.

It's all about the world of crime in Amanganj, Uttar Pradesh and how the younger generation there is influenced by this. The film shows us the urge for violence and its reasons lyk lack of education and the environment in which a child grows.

The story goes lyk this -- A 12-year-old boy picks up a country-made gun and shoots a man in cold blood! After this he walks the street f Amanganj with the gun in hand, no fear whatsoever & eyes devoid f any emotions. This boy grows up to be known as the other face f crime -- BaabarrQureshi (Soham Shah). Baabarr is the last f the six brothers all involved in crime. But as the movie unfolds S.P.Dwivedi (Mithun Chakraborty), an encounter specialist who is sent to the area with a simple mission to arrest or kill Baabarr, realizes that there is more to it than what meets the eye. It is not only an individual called Baabarr, but there exists a force which seems impossible to stop.

The movie is shot in perfect locations. Om Puri once again showed as to why he is called a fine actor in the industry. New comer Soham needs to add some more emotions, a poker-face look won't work all the tym, mate. Urvashi, who plays Soham's girlfriend/ mistress does what is required f her. Sushant Singh, playing Tabrez is impressive. Tinu Anand as Mamu makes his cameo count.

Overall it is a thrilling film that looks not only into the life of a criminal but attempts to peep into the concept of ‘crime’ and areas where crime is bred and nurtured. Crime -- A parallel world that co-exists with ours, a world our society dreads, where corruption thrives, which the politicians exploit and where the honest succumb.

P.S. Way too much violence, slightly weak script.

movie review : Rocket Singh salesman of the year.

Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Gauhar Khan, Naveen Kaushik

Direction: Shimit Amin

It's a film made by all-heart and with good intentions.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Harpreet Singh Bedi, plays a somewhat aimless guy, jus lyk in "Wake up Sid!", who’s just out of college wondering what to do next. He decides to take up sales after completing his graduation with utterly modest marks. To convince his friends who are against his decision to become a salesman he says -- "number kamm hai, boss, dimaag nahi". Ranbir brings to his part a lot of earnestness and heart. What we see on screen is a Sardar not quite like any of our movies have shown so far.

The supporting cast of Mukesh Bhatt as the office peon, P. Santoshi as the lazy porn-addicted colleague, Gauhar Khan as the office receptionist and Naveen Kaushik as the crucial link in Harpreet’s work place, boost Ranbir’s presence. To convince sexy-office-receptionist, Gauhar to join him Harpreet says and indirectly warns “I’ll remain the joker Sardarji and you the item girl.”

There are a couple f good lines in the film. All credit goes to Jaideep Sahni who also wrote "Khosla ka ghosla" & "Chak De! India". Sahani's words make their point without being too loud.

The scene where Harpreet goes to the shop owner to buy things on credit with no guarentee and the shop owner tells him "thik hai,le jaa.. waise bhi kabhi kisi Sardar kochori karte nahi dheka" would certainly make the audience clap and the Sardar's happy. There's this another scene which y'all can't miss -- Ranbir riding his cherry-red scooter gifted by his grandfather (Prem
Chopra) at the red light when a swanky motorbike rides up alongside.

The lack of drama and the absence f energy are the only missing elements in the film. The movie stands tall despite it's flaws.

While Shimit Amin’s earlier film “Chak De! India” was aggressive in its aspirations, “Rocket Singh” is a more gentle.

The movie is a one-tym watch. Take lots f popcorn with you.

movie review : The taking of Pelham 123

Cast: John Travolta, Denzel Washington

Director: Tony Scott

Okay, i haven't watched the original 1974 film but I have watched this and can conclude this to be an engaging, edge-f-the-seat thriller.

John Travolta, plays Ryder with a Y, a wolfish grin and a tattooed neck stars as a criminal mastermind, who hijacks a New York subway train full of passengers, and demands a 10 million$ ransom. He threatens to kill passengers one by one if the money doesn't get to him in an hour. Denzel Washington plays Garber, a subway employee. Mr. Washington, perhaps is the most effortlessly charismatic American film actor.

While negotiating his deal, Travolta finds himself engaged in a bond with Washington, with a bribe-accepting past over the subway radio. Travolta and Washington offer solid enough performances. This would be the first film where I think Denzel is a little side lined by Travolta. Women are marginally used in the film. Washington's wife in Queens and the girlfriend of an hostage on an onlyn video chat are the only ones.

The film has many flaws but it makes you ignore them due to some rock-solid performances and a thrilling script and a fast-pace.

The film’s final shot of a common man walking home from the subway after a hard day’s work, having saved the city is the truest moment f the film.

P.S. too many slangs.

movie review : Love Happens.

Cast: Jennifer Aniston, Aaron Eckhart

Direction: Brandon Camp

Oh, Love Happens, does it? Yeah.. may be it did when I had already dozed off.

When you announce yourself as a romantic film, show romance in the film, God damn it! Even when
Jen & Aaron lock-lips, love doesn't happen. May be love would happen if you cried.

Mr.
Eckhart’s character, Burke Ryan, is the best-selling author of “A-OK! A Path Through Grief,” arrives in Seattle to conduct a 3 day seminar. Ms. Aniston’s character, Eloise Chandler, is that of a floral designer Burke bumps into in a hotel corridor.

The next
tym he meets her she responds to a-cup-f-coffee invitation from him with a sign language pretending she's deaf & walks. A day later he finds her chatting in the same hotel lobby, goes there & shows her the middle finger which is followed by Aniston walking into the men's room to give him a lecture f her own. Burke, however, finds all f these fascinating. They go out for a dinner date later.

I gave up here.

The movie lacks emotional sense. The only real feelings happens during the workshop conducted by
Bruke where John Carrol Lynch, playing Walter, a contractor who had just lost his young son rebels & refuses to walk over hot coals.

Ms.
Aniston's role is under-written. I seriously wish that she shows some gumption whilst choosing roles. She plays a character in the film who is unlucky in love but I think she is quite unlucky while choosing the right kinda films.

The movie still counts on those scenes wherein after a long
emo speech on the stage, one person in the audience starts clapping & the rest follow him & all stand up one by one. C'mon man these kinda scenes are history. Even Bollywood refuses to do such scenes.

Love Happens is, as the kids say, not happening. If you don't watch this film you won't loose
anything.

P.S
. The cockatoo and parrot belong to the same biological order, so it is not technically incorrect
to call the bird in question a "parrot." But no one does that. If you have a pet cockatoo, you call it a cockatoo.
